Archive for November, 2011

Well, its finally November and my very favorite season is now in full swing!!  The air is just a little bit crisp and the scent of fireplaces burning drifts on a soft wind that rustles leaves falling to their earthly resting place… The Pumpkin Spice Latte has returned to Starbucks, stores are already decorating for Christmas and my mom and I are planning the holiday baking! 🙂

I don’t know about you, but this year the summer months were very long, very hot and very dry both literally and figuratively speaking and it seems that the cool breezes of Autumn are soothing not only to the body but to the soul as well.  So this makes me think about God and His mercy… Too often I take for granted the fact that the seasons change not only in the weather but in life as well. Most of the time I forget that and I begin to believe the feeling that the long, hot summer is going to last forever when in reality, Fall is just around the corner because God in His mercy brings a season of rest for the weary soul so that it will be strong for the next season of trial. Just like every year the gentleness of  Fall turns to the harshness of Winter and the harshness of Winter turns to the freshness of Spring and freshness of Spring turns to the intensity of Summer… Each season of trial reminds me that this world is not my home and God is not finished making me more like Him and each season of rest reminds me that He is so very merciful and His banner over me is love (Agape).

So my junk is that I tend to take for granted the rhythm of seasons in life but the prospective is that it is this rhythm that God has set in place for my provision and I am truly grateful…. Here is to the provision of seasons and may everyone enjoy this glorious season of Fall!! 🙂
